Newcomers to Fall Televison

This month, some of my summer shows end, while my fall shows begin. Surprisingly, this year I’m only adding a few new shows to my list of shows to watch. There may be more later, but as of right now it’s only the few.

Take a look at these newcomers.

2 Broke Girls

Premiere Date: September 19th | CBS
Synopsis: 2 BROKE GIRLS is a comedy about two young women waitressing at a greasy spoon diner who strike up an unlikely friendship in the hopes of launching a successful business – if only they can raise the cash. Sassy, streetwise Max Black works two jobs just to get by, one of which is waiting tables during the night shift at the retro-hip Williamsburg Diner. Sophisticated Caroline Channing is an uptown trust fund princess who’s having a run of bad luck that forces her to reluctantly give waitressing a shot. At first, Max sees Caroline as yet another in a long line of inept servers she must cover for, but she’s surprised to find that Caroline has as much substance as she does style.(from

Reason I Want to Watch:
I’m a sucker for shows that pair up two people on the opposite side of the spectrum and ask them to live together. It always makes for some awesome entertainment. The humor of the promo is what’s compelling. The two main characters seem to have a decent banter between each other and it could prove to be a promising show.

New Girl

Premiere Date: September 20th | Fox
Synopsis: JESS DAY (Zooey Deschanel) is an offbeat and “adorkable” woman in her late 20s who, after a bad breakup, moves into a loft with three single guys. Goofy, positive, vulnerable and honest to a fault, Jess has faith in people, even when she shouldn’t. Although she’s quirky and somewhat awkward, Jess is comfortable in her own skin. More prone to friendships with women, she’s not used to hanging with the boys – especially at home. (from

Reason I Want to Watch:
Two Words. Zooey Deschanel. If you’ve never heard of her or seen her in anything, then shame on you. The singer and actress seems to steal the scene of whatever show/movie/or concert she’s in. In addition to Zooey, the rest of the cast seems pretty top notch. Jess seems like the embodiment of most girls insecurities, but she puts it all out there, and doesn’t really care if she comes across slightly crazy. Considering that she randomly breaks out into song, she probably comes across as crazy a lot.

Premiere Date: September 13th | The CW
Synopsis: Bridget is six months sober and starting to get her life back on track when she becomes the sole witness to a professional hit. She flees to New York, telling no one. In New York, Bridget reunites with her estranged twin, Siobhan. Wealthy, pampered and seemingly happily married, Siobhan lives what appears to be a fairy tale life. The identical twin sisters seem to be mending their frayed relationship, until Siobhan disappears overboard during a boat trip the two take together, and Bridget makes the split decision to take on her sister’s identity. She discovers shocking secrets, not only about her sister and her marriage, but other secrets as well. Bridget soon realizes she is no safer as Siobhan than she is as herself. (from

Reason I Want to Watch:
Sarah Michelle Gellar returns to television. How could I not be watching this? Though, truth be told, even if it didn’t star SMG, I’d still want to see it. The premise of the show is definitely different from any other show on television right now. Add the amazing cast and leaks of awesome guest stars to the mix and we have a recipe for a some good television These roles appear to be completely different from when SMG was Buffy, so it’s nice to see her not be typecast.

Premiere Date: October 21st | NBC
Synopsis: “Grimm” is a new drama series inspired by the classic Grimm’s Fairy Tales. Portland homicide Detective Nick Burkhardt discovers he is descended from an elite line of criminal profilers known as “Grimms,” charged with keeping balance between humanity and the mythological creatures of the world. (from

Reason I Want to Watch:
This show was something I just stumbled upon when I was looking for videos for the previous shows I mentioned. I was immediately drawn into the story. There are a few ‘fairytale’ tv shows starting this year, but this one seems to be the one that may hold my interest. With its unique cast of actors that aren’t extremely well-known, and the approach they’re taking on the fairytale aspect, this show could be a contender.

What new shows are you looking forward to this year?
